If you’re of Medicare age and have Part D coverage, you’re likely receiving a plethora of information in the mail about open enrollment. This is the time of year, October 15th – December 7th, when you want to compare your current plan to the new offerings available for 2023. Each year, Medicare premiums, deductibles, and coverages change, which means if you don’t review these, you’ll likely pay more than you need to.
That’s where P&A comes in. We have two Nebraska SHIP volunteers on our team (Diane and Elizabeth) who are ready to give our clients an unbiased opinion. They aren’t here to sell you a plan; they’re here to educate you on your choices specific to Nebraska plans.
Importantly, there is no penalty for switching plans during Open Enrollment.
If you are on a Medicare Advantage plan, you can switch to another Advantage plan during this time. If you are on Original Medicare, you can enroll in an Advantage plan at this time as well. Many changes have happened in the Medicare Advantage area, so we recommend reviewing your options.
As a complimentary service to our clients, Diane and Elizabeth will be in the office to take appointments during Open Enrollment. If you feel more comfortable with a virtual meeting, we can schedule one of those as well. During your appointment, we will review your Part D coverage and discuss other options that might work better for you starting in 2023. We can even enroll you in a new plan during your appointment!
Again, as Nebraska SHIP certified counselors, we can only assist Nebraska residents. Not a Nebraska resident? Don’t worry, each state has their own SHIP department. We have been very happy with the staff and training we have received here in Nebraska. We are proud to be a part of the team – we can only assume that the same helpfulness is nationwide.
We realize Medicare can be very confusing, so please know that we are here to help you! Please call or email to schedule an appointment with Diane and Elizabeth.
