Questions and Answers with Jaxson Simmerman
Where are you originally from?
I was born in Norfolk, Nebraska and moved across Nebraska before settling in Seward. I graduated from Seward High School in 2020 before attending the University of Nebraska – Omaha. I now live in Lincoln.
Tell us about your family:
My parents currently live in Overland Park, Kansas. My dad is a High School Activities Director, and my mom is a High School Special Education teacher. I have one sister who is an Athletic Trainer at Oklahoma State University.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy staying active either in the gym or outside. I love reading, so it is likely if you see me outside the office that I am reading a book. I also enjoy quality time with my friends and family. There also isn’t a Husker Football podcast or video that I do not watch/listen to.
What is your favorite movie or TV show?
Top Gun: Maverick is my favorite movie. There aren’t many movies that the second in the series is better than the first, especially with one of the best movies ever created. As for TV shows, it is not too difficult to enjoy a rerun of The Office or The Big Bang Theory.
What has been your favorite and/or most memorable vacation?
Growing up, my vacations were either to baseball tournaments or Athletic Director Conferences. My whole family went to Orlando for an AD Conference, and we went to Disney World for a couple days. It was nice to get out of the Nebraska winter in December. I was eight years old and there wasn’t a scarier ride than Splash Mountain (thank goodness it is no longer in service).
How did you become interested in the investment/financial planning profession?
After my baseball career came to an end in college, I needed to find something that I was truly passionate about. I began to read books and watch videos about the stock market, and I was immediately fascinated how powerful the markets are. You can never know too much in this industry, so I am constantly learning new things. There is also a great sense of pleasure that comes when helping others. I am excited to learn from our great staff to best assist our clients here at P&A.
If you could do anything else for a living what would it be?
I would start/own a podcast business for College Football.
