Growing up in central Nebraska in the 1980s, I had limited exposure to the financial world. I remember someone visiting our home to sell my parents a mutual fund, but beyond that, I knew very little about the markets or financial planning. It was not a career path I had ever considered.

My first real introduction to investing came during the summer between my freshman and sophomore years at the University of Nebraska, when I interned in the investment division of a local bank. I was given a copy of Ben Graham’s The Intelligent Investor and a stack of Berkshire Hathaway annual reports. That experience opened my eyes to the industry and set me on the path to a career in investment management.

After graduation, I began pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, expecting I might eventually work for a large fund manager or institution. But as I started working directly with individual clients, I realized I not only enjoyed the investment side of the work, but also found deep satisfaction in helping people navigate their broader financial lives. That realization led me to earn the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2019.

In 2021, after more than 25 years in the bank wealth management channel, I joined Pittenger & Anderson and became a partner in 2022. I believe we have one of the finest teams of professionals in the region. The most rewarding part of my work is building lasting relationships with clients and helping them gain clarity and confidence in their financial lives.

Faith and family are my top priorities, so outside the office I try to devote most of my time to serving where I can and spending time with my wife and daughters. When I am not working, you will usually find me reading, planning our next trip, tackling the occasional project around the house, or searching for a new restaurant to try. I am still on a quest to find the best pizza out there.
