As a fee-only advisor, our sole compensation is the management fee our clients pay us.  We are not paid by selling financial products or earning commissions.  We do not receive any third-party compensation for recommending investments.

+ Additional Investment Expenses

Mutual funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have their own internal expenses. This is known as the expense ratio and it covers the management of the fund. Our clients also pay their own trading commissions, which can range from $4.95 to $12.95 per trade for individual stocks and some ETFs. A handful of mutual funds we use charge a transaction fee of up to $49.95 to buy or sell. We do not participate in any transaction charges or commissions charged to our clients. It’s in our interests and yours to minimize these expenses, while still addressing opportunities for diversification in your portfolio.

The investing strategy used for your account(s) will determine these additional internal expenses. For example, an ETF portfolio with a 75% stock and 25% bond allocation will have an all-in cost (our fee + fund expenses + trading commissions) of around 0.93% per year. An individual stock and bond account will have an all-in cost of roughly 1.05% per year. We are happy to show you an estimate of your all-in costs for each account prior to you becoming our client, as each portfolio is unique.

- Additional Investment Expenses

Our financial planning services are available to current investment management clients on a complimentary basis.

If you are not an investment management client and solely want to engage us for a comprehensive financial plan, we charge a $1,000 flat fee. Half is due upfront and the remainder upon completion of the plan.

Each plan is unique. A number of factors influence our advisory fee, including plan assets, annual flows, and the number of participants. Since we aren’t paid by the investments we use in your plan, we are incentivized to keep these expenses low for you and your employees.

To help you satisfy your fiduciary obligation as a plan sponsor, we offer a complimentary, no-strings-attached comparison of the costs you’re currently paying versus our offering.  All we need are three pieces of information: a list of the funds available in your plan and current balances within each, your 408(b)2 fee disclosure, and the plan adoption agreement or summary plan description.
