High school classes in personal finance and economics first sparked my interest in wanting to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and help people manage their investments. A college internship at a local financial services firm opened the door for me to join Pittenger & Anderson in 1998, fresh out of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where I double-majored in Finance and Economics and minored in History and Political Science.
My early years at P&A centered on trading, portfolio construction, and investment research. Over time, my focus shifted to working directly with clients and helping them plan for the future. I earned my CFP® certification in 2007.
As a Senior Advisor and Principal at P&A, I work directly with clients on investment strategy and financial planning for pre- and post-retirement, business sales, charitable giving, and more. What I love most about my career is helping people live the life they imagined. That means understanding what matters most to them and making sure their money is aligned accordingly.
Lincoln is home. I grew up here, attended Southeast High School, and graduated from UNL, so giving back to this community matters to me. I currently serve on the Capital Humane Society board and am a member of the Executive Club. Over the years, I’ve also served as a board member, Treasurer, and Chair of the Lincoln Children’s Zoo Board of Directors, as a member and President of the Lincoln Downtown Athletic Club, and as a Teammates mentor for eight years.
Outside the office, you’ll most likely find me reading, traveling, spending time with my family outdoors, or at a Husker game. I’m a proud husband and father of a daughter and a son. We also have a family dog who thinks we exist to serve him. Growing up, my dad was a carpenter, and I’ve inherited at least some of that building instinct. But if I weren’t building financial plans and investment portfolios, I’d probably be running my own lawn care business. Keep those lines straight!
